Happy New Year! (Yes, I know what day it is)

You may have seen on the news that yesterday evening (Israel time), Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. My family and I sat in our safe room for more than an hour, hoping to not get hit.

We are fine. Most of the missiles were intercepted or hit far away from where we live. Still, it does raise the fear of a greater war.

But today I don't want to think about that. Today I'd like to wish you a happy new year!

I know, I know, this is October, and 2025 is still some months in the future. But today is the eve of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. Tomorrow, the Jewish year 5785 will commence.

Whether you're Jewish or not, I wish you and yours a wonderful new year. May all your dreams come true. May you know nothing but health and happiness. May you read great and interesting books. And may your life be one of contentment and peace.

Speaking of peace, in five days the war in Israel will be one year old.

I hope this new year brings with it an end to the war and peace across the world.

I'm off to eat some apple with honey, as is customary. This is how we wish for the next year to be a sweet one.

Shana Tova (happy new year).
